Carter Machinery, dealer for Caterpillar, Donates EngineDiesel instructor, Rick Kelso, explains the inner workings of the cylinder head from the Bore Caterpillar Engine to students

Carter Machinery, the regional dealer for Caterpillar, has made a generous donation of a late model engine to the ATI Heavy Vehicle program. The engine is a 2012 Large Bore Caterpillar engine of 15 liters displacement with very low hours of run time. It was originally used in an industrial electric generator, and develops over 700 horsepower.

ATI students have already wired the computer controls and made this engine operable, and begun to make mechanical repairs as needed. When repairs are completed this engine will be in like new condition, and will serve as a valuable training aid for years to come.

Our thanks to everyone at Carter Machinery for their continued support of the Heavy Vehicle program at ATI.
